Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library has activities planned for all ages this summer. Join “Catch the Reading Bug!” this summer at the Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library/Blue Ridge Summit Free Library and discover the amazing world of insects. The 2008 Summer Reading Program is open to all children, birth through age 12, with programs, prize drawings, crafts, movies, story hours, and more. The Teen and Adult program is for teens from 13 through 17, and the adult program is open for all other readers.
Weekly activities include:
Crafts (ages 4-12) on Mondays at 2 p.m. and Tuesdays at 10 a.m. Sign up is required for all craft activities.
Wednesday: Story Time at 10 a.m. (preschool)
Thursday: Story Time at 6:30 p.m. (School Age)
Friday: Movie at 11 a.m.

Saturday, June 21, 2008: The summer reading kick-off celebration begins at 1:00 p.m. There will be face painting, picture taking, ice cream and a bake sale. Beginning at 2:00 p.m. there will be a program by “The Bug Man” Ryan Bridge. Mr. Bridge will bring his extensive collections of butterflies, insects, arachnids, and hissing cockroaches to the library. He has been involved with entomology and the 4-H for over 30 years. His focus has been primarily on youth oriented outreach and has traveled both nationally and internationally to build his impressive collection of insects.
Friday, June 27, 2008: Fly Fishing with Mr. Donald Shade Learn about fly fishing from Mr. Shade. The program begins at 2:00 p.m.
Friday, July 11, 2008: Picnic Lunch & Insect Scavenger Hunt at Renfrew Park from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Sign-up required. Bring your lunch, drink and blankets for your family to the park.
Thursday, July 17, 2008: Magician John Andrews Magician John Andrews shares a magic show for children at the library starting at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, July 24, 2008: Storyteller Judy Wolfman Come and enjoy a story with storyteller Judy Wolfman. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday evening.
Saturday, August 2, 2008: Franklin County Beekeepers Learn everything about bees on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
