National Library Week

NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK APRIL 13 - 19, 2008

This year, National Library Week marks its 50th anniversary with the theme “Join the circle of knowledge @ your library®.” All types of libraries—school, public, academic and special— will participate. National Library Week is a great time to see what’s new at your library.

NEW CIRCULATION SYSTEM
Our library is celebrating National Library Week by introducing our new circulation system to all of our patrons. We have heard many suggestions and comments about being able to view the library’s collection on-line. Now, we have good news for our patrons: you are now able to view the catalogs at Blue Ridge Summit and Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library. To find our on-line catalogs go to either, www. ahmfl.org or www. brsfl.org for a preview. We are very thankful to the State of Pennsylvania for approving our grant through the LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) that made it possible for us to take our library to a new level of service.

ANNUAL CAMPAIGN
The Library’s annual campaign was very successful this year. We have also been very fortunate in receiving many gifts, bequests, and grants. We are very appreciative of all who have given generously to the library. This enables us to keep improving the library for the benefit of all of our patrons. Recently we received a grant form the Waynesboro Beneficial Fund that will enable us to upgrade our meeting room and begin working on updating the patron bathrooms. We can’t thank our donors enough for all of their financial help.

VINTAGE MINIATURE OIL LAMPS
This month we have another wonderful display at the library. We are enjoying the lovely collection of Vintage Miniature Oil Lamps. These lamps belong to Helen Shelley of Waynesboro, and will be on display through the end of the month. If you have anything you would like to display at the library please let us know.
