Library welcomes new Children's Librarian

Have you seen some new faces at the library lately? We hope you have! Our new Children’s Librarian is happily residing in the children’s area of the library. Although we were all sad when Miss Mary moved on to a new adventure, we were thrilled that Miss Emily joined us in the library. Miss Emily is originally from Baltimore, MD, but now lives in Waynesboro. She has a degree in Early Childhood Education and experience as a teacher. Emily hopes to some day earn her degree in Library Science. Our new children’s assistant is Miss Jenn. She has been working at the library for several years and will now be more involved in the children’s activities at the library. Miss Jenn has lived in Waynesboro all of her life. She is a mom with two wonderful sons. We have added some new activities to the children’s schedule at the library. We are now having a craft activity twice a month on Saturday and beginning in February; we will be starting a family story time on Thursday evenings at 6:30 pm.

We have finally received our first order of Memorial/Honor Bricks for the library. As soon as the weather cooperates, the bricks will be placed in the courtyard. The bricks look fantastic and they will soon be displayed in an area of the courtyard for all to see. We are still taking orders for the bricks. It is a wonderful way to honor a loved one or a special person in your life. If you would like more information, please call the library.

Some upcoming events at the library include computer classes in April. Please call the library for more information. Let us know what types of classes you would like to have. Currently some of the available subjects are: Beginning Computers, Advanced Computers, Beginning Internet Usage, Internet Safety and eBay, Database Searching (PA Power library and Card Catalog), Beginning Keyboarding (Typing), and Beginning HTML, and Intermediate HTML.

Also, coming in March we will have the bi-annual Friends of the Library Book Sale. Mark your calendars for the beginning of March. The book sale begins on March 1st and continues until March 15th. Call the library at 762-3335 for more details.
